Notice on Visa Application Requirements (updated on 08/01/2023)

1Following the Chinese Embassy'svisarequirements, from 8th ofJanuary 2023, the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in Londoncanaccept the following visa applications from applicants. Please clickherefor more information from the Embassy's website.

Visa application and Documents requirements

An official invitation letter issued by a relevant unit or individual in China.

Q1

Family member of Chinese citizen or foreigner(s) with permanent residence status in China applying for residence in China for family reunion. Or residence visa for child to be fostered in China

*"family members" refers to spouse, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouse of children, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren.

1.An invitation letterprovided by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit. And

2.The proof of relationships including birth certificate, marriage certificate, Chinese household registration, certificate letter from the local police bureau in China, notarial certificate of kinship, etc. And

3Photocopy of Chinese ID (both front and back sides) or foreign passport and permanent residence permit provided by the inviting parties.

Q2

Relative of Chinese citizen(s) living in China applying for a visa for visit less than 180 days. Relative of foreigner(s) with permanent residence status in China applying for a visa for visit less than 180 days

1.An invitation letterprovided by a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen with a Chinese permanent residence permit. And invitation letter must mention the relationship between the applicant and the inviter.

2. Photocopy of Chinese ID (both front and back sides) or foreign passport and permanent residence permit provided by the inviting parties.

S1

Spouse, parents, children under the age of 18 or parents-in-law of foreigner(s) residing in China for work, study or other purposes who visit China for 180 days or more

1.Certificate of kinship including marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc showing the relationship between the inviter and the applicant. And

2.An invitation letter written by the work visa holder/ the work residence permit holder/long term study visa holder. And

3.Aphotocopy of the inviting party’s passport and residence permit.

S2

Family member of foreigner(s) staying or residing in China for work, study or other purposes who visit China for less than 180 days

*"family members" refers to spouse, parents, parents-in-law, children, spouse of children, brothers and sisters, grandparents and grandchildren.

1.Certificate of kinship including marriage certificate, birth certificate, etc showing the relationship between the inviter and the applicant. And

2.An invitation letter written by the work visa holder/ the work residence permit holder/long term study visa holder. And

3.Aphotocopy of the inviting party’s passport and residence permit.

Long term study (more than 180 days)

Original and photocopy of Admission Notice issued by a school or other entities in China;

(8) Original and photocopy of “Visa Application for Study in China” (Form JW201 or Form JW202) issued by Chinese relevant authorities

Foreigner of high talent or specialist needed by the State

Relevant documents provided by high-level qualified personnel with special skills meeting the requirements of China's relevant departments and urgently needed by China.

D

Person coming to China to take up permanent residence

The original and photocopy of the Confirmation Form for Alien Permanent Residence Status issued by the Ministry of Public Security of China


Note

*Applicants are required to fill in the online application form and make an online appointment from London Visa Centre website before submitting applications in person on the date of appointment. Children under the age of 14 and adults above the age of 70 are not required to go to the CVASC for biometric information collection.

*Humanitarian visit: Applicant who intends to visit a family member (foreign nationals included) in China who is in critical medical condition and in need of care, or to arrange funeral matters of an immediate family member in China;

Photocopies of medical certificate or death certificate, proof of relationships (including birth certificate, marriage certificate, Chinese household registration, certificate letter from the local police bureau in China, notarial certificate of kinship, etc.), are required.

*Photocopy of previous Chinese passports or previous Chinese visas (applicable for those who were Chinese citizens and have obtained foreign citizenship).

If you are applying for a Chinese visa for the first time, you should provide the last Chinese passport held and a photocopy of its data page.

If you have obtained Chinese visas before and apply for a Chinese visawith a renewed foreign passport that does not contain any Chinese visa, you should provide original previous passport(s) and present the photocopy of the previous passport's data page and the photo page if it is separate, as well as the previous Chinese visa page (If your name on the current passport differs from that on the previous one, you must provide an official document of name change).

*Applicants under 18 whoapplies the Chinese visafor thefirst time should also provideboth parents' and child's personal documents for nationality judgement. Please check "Step by Step" guidance for more details.

*If you are a dual national ormulti-national, youare requested to provide all current valid passports in your posession. Additionally, you may be also required to provide your previous passport(s) in support of your application.* Effective from 24th Aug 2022, the person with a valid APEC cardor valid residence permit for studycan enter China.

3Applicants who apply for visas for Hong Kong Special Administrative Region or Macao Special Administrative Region can submit applications to the CVASC during business hours with no need for pre-booked appointments.

Visa applications for other visiting purposes which are not included above will not be accepted at the moment.
